What’s Your Plan for the New Overtime Rules?

On May 18, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced the release of the highly anticipated Final Rule to Update the Regulations Defining and Delimiting the Exemption for Executive, Administrative, and Professional Employees revising the federal overtime regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Final Rule will take effect in just over six months on December 1, 2016.

When the rule change takes effect, the DOL estimates over four million more employees may become eligible for overtime pay. Failure to pay overtime pay correctly to eligible employees can result in fines and penalties under the FLSA and/or applicable state law.

These changes may result in difficult decisions and administrative tasks that can quickly consume your schedule. Is your business ready?
